Here’s another sketch from the ol’ journal, quick color job on it. It’s based on a photograph of Alison Lohman. Ahh, Flicka.

There’s this cafe on the West Side called The Grey Dog’s Coffee. Some timeĀ ago, I got really into drawing it, involved in so many of the stupid details, all the clutter. I ended up being one of the last people there that night as they were closing, and the girl that was there took a bit of a breather. I threw her into the sketch at the last minute, and it made drawing so much more intimate. That was a couple years ago. I had always meant to color it. Anyway, finally got around to it.

Barak Obama in his speech the other day, which I think is a very succinct yet accurate way a lot of people think about Lincoln: “As we mark the bicentennial of our 16th president’s birth, I cannot claim to know as much about his life and works as many who are also speaking today, but I can say that I feel a special gratitude to this singular figure who in so many ways made my own story possible — and who in so many ways made America’s story possible.”
Also, some time ago, a photo from the Gettysburg Address was found. It’s an amazing photo, blurry and crowded with people. But zooming in, blurry and far away, there may be a tiny photo of Abraham Lincoln in the back. I think it’s really interesting, here’s the link:

So I’m uploading a hi-res photo Tony G had taken of me at NYCC. It’s not a particularly good photo of me, but I love it because it’s hi-res, and if you click on the link and scroll to the bottom of the photo, you can see that I’m writing in someone’s Johnny Hiro. And so far my inscription is “Woo-Ha!”
F*ck yeah. Hip-hop you don’t stop
More con reports later.

GB Tran whipped up this little diddy for the New York Comic-Con. The three of us will be sharing a small tablespace in Artists Alley, table L4. My two table-mates will be the bald guys, I will be the drunk guy.
Also, aside from the regular offerings of Johnny Hiro comics and prints, I will have a couple mini-paintings.
And on Saturday from 3-5, I will also be hanging out at the IndieSpinnerRack table in Podcast Alley. Tomorrow, baby. Coolio.
