Growing up, I was never too much into economics; I simply never thought it would affect my day to day life. Well, of course the economic collapse happened, and all the response. And during this all, I became incredibly interested, becoming a bit of a junkie, an amateur economics nerd–I love reading about the stuff, watching TV coverage, listening to podcasts, etc. Lately I came across this amazing video about the opposing philosophies of two economists, John Maynard Keynes and F. A. Hayek.

It’s put together by the guys at econstories.tv, and performed by Snakes. They do a really good job. Not that I’m much of a Keynesian, but  I do feel like they gave Hayek the last word, and I would have loved to hear John’s retort. But it is an absolutely outstanding introduction with some amazing rhymes like “I have a plan any fool can understand. The advice real simple–boost aggregate demand” and “The place you should study isn’t the bust, it’s the boom that should make you feel leery, that’s the thrust of my theory.” Anyway, I encourage everyone to check it out, it’s pretty bad-ass.

Inspired by the video, I made a quick little diddy.

And I have to give a shout out to my favorite podcast, NPR’s Planet Money, simply because it does such a solid job making this all approachable. I encourage anyone at all interested to check it out.
